Guest Teacher: Persa Stamatopoulou

Right after easter vacation, we are happy to welcome choreographer Persa Stamatopoulou in the studio to give a contemporary dance and improvisation workhsop. Persa is a distinct greek choreogrpaher based in Athens. She creates pieces with her own dance company which she founded back in 1991. She has presented works in several festivals in Greece and abroad.

Her works focus on a deductive approach of movement, forming each time a world open to multiple interpretations, allowing the audience to give their own meanings to the images and sensations of each piece. Hers and her company's objective is not to define or describe stories and questions, but to continually form a redefinition of the art of 'moving', continually seeking the 'absolutely necessary' in movement.

The images in this post are from the piece 'Look at me', presented in Athens Festival 2011, performed by Markella Manoliadi and Giorgos Kotsifakis. You can watch an excerpt here and find more info about the workshop here.
