Today we celebrate International Dance Day! This afternoon we
participate in the local events –we will dance after 17.00 at the Umbrellas area!
International Dance Day was founded in
1982 and is celebrated every year on the 29th April, which is also the date of
birth of ballet's 'father' Jean-Georges Noverre (1727-1810). Every
year a message from an outstanding choreographer or dancer is circulated
internationally, aiming to celebrate and promote the art of dance and inspire
dancers and publics all over the world. This year the message comes from flamenco dancer
and choreographer Israel Galván. Here is our favorite part:
I see people moving when walking down the street, when calling a taxi, when moving in their different ways, styles and deformities. They're all dancing! They don't know it but they're all dancing! I would like to shout to them: there are people who still don't know! We're all dancing!
So, whatever you do today... you are already dancing! Happy Dance Day!
